Wednesday’s Wisdom

The past few weeks have seen the passing of some legends of both the opera and ballet worlds, both of which intersect in Shattered (as it’s focused around the Palais Garnier, now a ballet theatre but which was once, of course, the Paris Opera).  Patrick Dupond, a flamboyant star of the Paris Opera Ballet who attained the rank of etoile at the age of 21, died last week.  French soprano Renee Doria was 100 when she died last week.  She made her Paris Opera debut in 1947.
Meanwhile, Hugo Marchard, also a Paris Opera ballet etoile (although at the age of 23) has written his memoir.
